Name that Character Contest

Calling all creative minds! If you are interested in winning a $10 Amazon gift card all you have to do is find the perfect name for two of my characters!

1) I need a last name for Austin...I had Austin Rivers but it is bugging. I already have Macoy Parker and Cameryn Edwards...another cute whitey last name that looks like a first name seemed too much. But, if you think Austin Rivers is still the perfect name - you can vote on that as well.

2) I need a perfect jock-jerk name.

So, 2 gift cards up for grabs for whoever's name suggestions I use - spread the word to others who might want some free $$ and leave me your comments!!

  1. Jerk names...I'm always fond of Richard and variations on it...;)
I'm not so keen on Austin Rivers either. Where is your novel set? Sometimes I go through a local phone book (real or online) when I'm stuck for last names.
BTW, I blogged about your contest. Here's hoping you get lots of comments.

  3. Hiya! Kaylie sent me on over. :) Austin is such a lovely classical name. I had an uncle with the name Austin, and I love naming characters!

Have you thought about something like Rathwell, Turlington, Reynolds, or Jennings. Give him an English sounding name. Ivy league, *hep-hep* jock jerk with the tied sweater and tennis racket?

Or, you can go a little more modern European. Austin Bron. Austin Mordoch. Austin Richelieu. He's got a little bit of old world in him, be it German, Dutch, or French.

What is the time period in your novel, and from where does yon Austin hail?

  4. I can't believe my comment didn't show up! Register me for Austen Bennett. And Troy Da Luca for your evil jock. It was fun seeing you last night!

  6. It seems like every jock-jerk I knew in high school was named Cody, Josh or Justin. At least, those are the ones I remember. Probably because those are the ones I thought were cute, even if they were jerks.

As for Austin's last name, I checked a list of the most popular surnames in the US and randomly selected #100 - Fisher.
